In Memory of Genieve Enright
Former PSBA president and vice president Genieve Enright passed away on April 18 after a long illness. She was 98. She and her late husband Jack Enright were long-time members of PSBA and both were accomplished bonsai artists. One of Genieve’s trees, a semi-cascade ponderosa pine, received the prestigious Ben Oki design from Bonsai Clubs International in 1992 and was featured on the cover of the organization’s magazine later that year. For more than two decades the Enright’s also hosted a study group affiliated with PSBA in the basement of their Tacoma home. Their backyard was filled with benches and a small greenhouse covered with a superb bonsai collection. Many of those trees were sold in the last five years at PSBA’s annual auction. Genieve once said the two loves in her life were her husband and bonsai. Aside from her bonsai skills, she was a gourmet cook, mother and grandmother, hostess and friend. She is survived by three children, two grandchildren and three great grandchildren. The family requests that any remembrances be made to PSBA at PO Box 15437, Seattle, WA 98115-0437. Funeral services for her are scheduled on April 30 at 10:30 a.m. at Calvary Cemetery, 5212 70th St. W, Tacoma, 98467.
